Thomas Crapper
The history of this mystery man.

There's a saying that this man didn't exist or even invent the flushing toilet. The truth is that he did exist and he had a plumbing business going on, a very good one too.Thomas was born in September 1836. "No one in the known about Thomas Crapper would ever make this statement. The man holds nine patents, four for improvements to drains, three for water closets, one for manhole covers and the last for pipe joints.". "Every patent application for plumbing related products filed by Crapper made it through the process, and these actual patents were granted".

The famous product that was put onto Thomas Crapper name wasn't invented by him at all. The "Silent Valveless Water Waste Preventer" (No. 814) was a system that allowed a toilet to flush good enougn for when the bowl was only half full. British Patent 4990 for 1898 was issued to a Mr. Albert Giblin for this product. There are a couple of stories on how Thomas Crapper came to be connected with this device. First, is that Giblin worked for Crapper as an employee and authorized his use of the product. The second, is that Crapper bought the patent from Giblin and said that he made the device himself so he marketed it too.

The works of the Flush Toilet

THe way the flushing toilet works is by when the handle is pressed or pulled the water is lifted up by this  thing called a siphon tube by the  disk inside. The water gets to the siphon pipe and then goes to the tank again. The upcoming float slowly shuts the valve, cutting off the water supply.  Even though the tank is full, the water cannot leave through the siphon tube until the handle is pressed down, tensing the siphon once again. The float and valve work together to form a self regulating gadget.

What was invented before this was invented

The  toilet was invented before the flush toilet was invented. Flappers, the chain that links it  to the siphon.

              How this changed peoples lives
This changed many people's lives because now people can flush their waste. Made lives convient and  things sanitary. Plus the world would of been in a very stinky situation. Toilet paper, out houses, and little pots would give many people backaces and half of the nation wouldn't be able bend their back or do many other stuff.

                   The use of this invention
The toilet was for people to have their waste go somewhere where they don't have to take it out themself. It takes a load off hard labor which no one likes to do.
