Admissions FAQ


Admission to St. Joseph Catholic School shall be determined by the pastor and the principal in accordance with Diocesan policies.

Non-Discriminatory Policy

St. Joseph Catholic School of Mountain View does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, age, sex, or disability in the admission of students, the administration of educational policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Age of Admission

Kindergarten: A pupil entering Kindergarten must be five years old on or before September 1 of that year. Pre-school students must be 3 years old by September 1 of that year.


All incoming students are tested in order to verify basic skills and to determine placement. Testing is held at the school at scheduled times. In addition, students entering school during the school year are expected to spend at least one day in school after which placement is determined.

Conditions of Admission

No student shall be admitted to St. Joseph Catholic School unless there is clear indication of the ability to function successfully. In doubtful cases, students may be admitted on a probationary basis with dates and criteria of evaluation clearly established in writing.

Required Records

It is the responsibility of parents applying for the admission of their child to St. Joseph Catholic School to supply the following verification of records. No student will be admitted unless verification is complete.

  1. Birth Certificate (must be submitted with application)
  2. Sacramental Records: (must be submitted with application when applicable)
    • Baptismal
    • First Eucharist
    • Confirmation
  3. Academic History (must be submitted with application)
    • Copy of current report card, transcript, progress report or previous school recommendation
  4. Health Records: (must be turned in by August 15)
    • Evidence of compliance with immunization requirements and/or Immunization Form, all grades.
    • Mandatory Health Assessment Form, grades K and 1. Incoming Kindergartners must complete a Dental Oral Exam by the 1st day of school. Grade 7 Hepatitis B and MMR shot requirements must be met by the 1st day of school.


Tuition & Fees

Tuition Fees 2019-20

General Fees K-8:

Technology: $150
This fee covers the cost of on-line learning materials, maintenance of student iPads, network and internet, and a professional IT staff to support our infrastructure as well as the smooth operation of our instructional blended learning programs.

Field Trips and Class Enrichment: $80
This fee ensures students have access to experiential learning through various opportunities both in and out of the classroom.

Parent Teacher Guild (PTG): $50 (per family)
This membership fee for the PTG supports the organization run by parents that in turn supports the school through fund-raising activities and community events such as the back-to-school barbecue, bingo nights and the Halloween party.

Grade Specific Fees

8th Grade Graduation Fee: $150
This covers graduation and the Lots of Luck graduation dinner.

Sacramental Fees: Grade Appropriate/Optional
These grade specific fees cover the preparation cost for the sacraments, including the retreat center for confirmation candidates. Fees are applicable to those who elect to receive these sacraments.
First Eucharist: $70      Confirmation: $150

Registration: $450 (per student)

This fee helps cover the cost of enrollment, administration, textbook, Department of Educations fees, Catholic Telemedia fee, and standardized testing and office expenses. This fee will be applied to the upcoming year. You will be billed in February and March for the 2020-21 registration fee. This fee is non-refundable.

Service Hours

Each family is expected to serve 30 hours per year.
